政府之犬　GOVERNMENT　DOG

工程师、会计师、化学师和政府职员四个人都在吹嘘他们的狗有多聪明。为了卖弄本领，工程师招来他的狗，说：“丁字尺，露一手。”
丁字尺赶紧跑到桌子边，拿出纸和笔，迅速画了一个圆圈，一个正方形和一个三角形。大家都说这狗很聪明。但会计师说，他的狗更棒。他招来他的狗，说：“计算尺，露一手。”
计算尺钻进厨房，拿来一打曲奇饼。他把曲奇饼分成四堆，每堆三块。大家都说这是条好狗。
但化学师说，他的狗还更棒。他招来自己的狗，说：“量器，露一手。”
量器站起来，走到冰箱前，拿出一夸脱牛奶，从橱柜中拿出一个10盎司玻璃杯，倒了8盎司牛奶，不多不少，一滴不洒。大家都说真是条好狗。
接着，他们三人转向政府职员，说：“你的狗能干什么？”
政府职员招来自己的狗，说：“咖啡时间，露一手。”
咖啡时间一跃而起，吃掉曲奇饼，喝干牛奶，在纸上拉撒一通，把另外三条狗调戏一番，结果说它闪了腰，交了份申诉报告，抱怨工作条件不保险，要求给予职工补偿，然后回家休病假去了。

Slide　Rule　went　out　into　the　kitchen　and　returned　with　a　dozen　cookies．He　divided　them　into　4　e q ual　p iles　of　3　cookies　each．Ever y one　a g reed　that　was　g ood．But　the　Chemist　said　his　do g　could　do　better．He　called　his　do g　and　said,“Measure,do　y our　stuff．”
Measure　g ot　u p,walked　over　to　the　frid g e,took　out　a　q uart　of　milk,g ot　a　10　ounce　g lass　from　the　cu p board　and　p oured　exactl y　8　ounces　without　s p illin g　a　dro p．Ever y one　a g reed　that　was　g ood．Then　the　three　men　turned　to　the　g ov－ernment　worker　and　said,“W hat　can　y our　do g　do?”
The　g overnment　worker　called　to　his　do g　and　said,“Coffee　Break,do　y our　stuff．”
Coffee　Break　j um p ed　to　his　feet,ate　the　cookies,drank　the　milk,dum p ed　on　the　p a p er,molested　the　other　three　do g s,claimed　he　in j ured　his　back　while　doin g　so,filed　a　g rievance　re p ort　for　unsafe　workin g　conditions,p ut　in　for　Worker's　Com p ensation　and　went　home　on　sick　leave．
