Geor g e　W．　Bush　was　thrilled　at　finall y　bein g　able　to　s p end　his　first　ni g ht　in　the　W hite　House,but　somethin g　ver y　stran g e　ha pp ened．On　the　ver y　first　ni g ht,he　was　awakened　b y　Geor g e　Washin g ton's　g host．Bush　asked　the　g host,“President　Washin g ton,what　is　the　best　thin g　I　could　do　to　hel p　the　countr y?”
“Set　an　honest　and　honorable　exam p le,j ust　as　I　did,”　advised　Washin g ton．
With　all　the　excitement　of　the　W hite　House,Bush　still　couldn't　slee p　well,and　then,later　on　that　ni g ht,the　g host　of　Thomas　Jefferson　moved　throu g h　the　dark　bedroom．“Tom,what　is　the　best　thin g　I　could　do　to　hel p　the　countr y?”Bush　asked．
“Cut　taxes　and　reduce　the　size　of　the　g ov－ernment,”Jefferson　answered．
Bush　still　couldn't　slee p　well,and　much　later　he　saw　another　g hostl y　fi g ure　movin g　in　the　shadows．
It　was　Abraham　Lincoln's　g host．
“Abe,what　is　the　best　thin g　I　could　do　to　hel p　the　countr y?”　Bush　asked．
Lincoln　re p lied,“Go　see　a　p la y．”
入主白宫的头一个晚上，乔治·W·布什兴奋不已。但怪事出现了。头一晚，他被乔治·华盛顿的幽灵弄醒了。布什问鬼魂：“华盛顿总统，我做什么事最能为国家效力？”

因白宫令人激动不已，布什还是不能安然入睡。过了一阵子，托马斯·杰斐逊的幽灵在黑咕隆咚的卧室里徘徊。布什问：“汤姆，我做什么事最能为国家效劳？”
“减免赋税、精简政府。”杰斐逊答道。
布什还是睡不踏实，过了好一阵子，他又看到一个幽灵影影绰绰地进来了。
那是亚伯拉罕·林肯的鬼魂。
“艾贝，我做什么才最有益于国家？”布什问。
