生命的馈赠　The　Gift　of　Life（趣味英语）

创世第一天，上帝创造了牛。他对牛说：“今天我创造了你！作为一头牛，你必须跟农夫下地，终日在日头下劳作！我给你50年的寿命。”
牛不同意：“什么？这种苦日子你要我活50年？让我活20年吧，30年还给你。”上帝同意了。
第二天，上帝创造了狗。上帝对狗说：“你应该终日坐在自家门前，有人进来就叫！我给你20年寿命。”
狗反对：“什么？整天坐在门口？绝对不行！我退给你10年寿命！”于是上帝同意了。
第三天，上帝创造了猴子。他对猴子说：“猴子必须带给人娱乐。你必须让他们开怀大笑，耍把戏。我给你20年寿命。”
猴子不干：“什么？让他们开怀大笑？做鬼脸耍把戏？10年就够了，另外10年还给你。”上帝同意了。
第四天，上帝创造了人，并对他说：“你的工作就是吃喝玩乐睡大觉，尽情享受人生。只管享受，什么都不干。这种生活，我给你20年寿命。”
人反对：“什么？这样的好日子！除了吃喝玩乐，什么都不干？尽情享受，而你让我只活20年？不行，老兄！……我们何不做个交易？既然牛退给你30年，狗还你10年，猴子退回10年，你把这些统统给我！这样我的寿命就有70年了，行吗？”上帝同意了。
这就是为什么……头20年，我们吃喝玩乐，尽情享受，无所事事。接下来30年，我们终日辛劳，受苦受难，养家糊口。之后10年，我们扮鬼脸耍把戏让孙辈开心。最后10年，我们呆在家里，坐在门口，对人大叫！（刘宗亚提供）

The　cow　ob j ected,　“W hat?　This　kind　of　a　tou g h　life　y ou　want　to　live　for　50　y ears?　Let　me　have　20　y ears,　and　the　30　y ears　I'll　g ive　y ou　back．＂　So　God　a g reed．
On　the　second　da y,　God　created　the　do g．　God　said　to　the　do g,“You　are　su pp osed　to　sit　all　da y　b y　the　door　of　y our　house．　An y　p eo p le　that　come　in,　y ou　will　have　to　bark　at　them！I'll　g ive　y ou　a　life　s p an　of　20　y ears．＂
The　do g　ob j ected,“what?　All　da y　lon g　to　sit　b y　the　door?　No　wa y！　I　g ive　y ou　back　the　other　10　y ears　of　m y　life！＂　So　God　a g reed．
On　the　third　da y,　God　created　the　monke y．　He　said　to　the　monke y,　“Monke y s　have　to　entertain　p eo p le．　You've　g ot　to　make　them　lau g h　and　do　monke y　tricks．　I'll　g ive　y ou　20　y ears'　life　s p an．＂
The　monke y　ob j ected．　“W hat?　Make　them　lau g h?　Do　monke y　faces　and　tricks?　Ten　y ears　will　do,　and　the　other　10　y ears　I'll　g ive　y ou　back．＂　So　God　a g reed．
On　the　fourth　da y,　God　created　man　and　said　to　him,“Your　j ob　is　to　slee p,　eat,　and　p la y．　You　will　en j o y　ver y　much　in　y our　life．　All　y ou　need　to　do　is　to　en j o y　and　do　nothin g．　This　kind　of　life,　I'll　g ive　y ou　a　20—y ear　life　s p an．＂
The　man　ob j ected,“W hat?　Such　a　g ood　life！Eat,　p lay,　slee p,　and　do　nothin g?　En j o y　the　best　and　y ou　ex p ect　me　to　live　onl y　20　y ears?　No　wa y,　man！．．．W h y　don't　we　make　a　deal?　Since　the　cow　g ave　y ou　back　30　y ears,　and　the　do g　g ave　y ou　back　10　y ears　and　the　monke y　g ave　y ou　back　10　y ears,　I　will　take　them　all　from　y ou！　That　makes　m y　life　s p an　70　y ears,ri g ht?＂　So　God　a g reed．
AND　THAT'S　W HY．．．In　our　first　20　y ears,　we　eat,　slee p,　p la y,　en－j o y　the　best　and　do　nothin g　more．　For　the　next　30　y ears,　we　work　all　da y　lon g,　suffer　and　g et　to　su pp ort　the　famil y．　For　the　next　10　y ears,　we　entertain　our　g randchildren　b y　makin g　monke y　faces　and　monke y　tricks．　And　the　last　10　y ears,　we　sta y　at　home,　sit　b y　the　front　door　and　bark　at　p eo p le！
