一中年女子得过一次心脏病，被送往医院。在手术台上，她经历了一次生死体验。见到上帝，她问自己是不是气数已尽。上帝说：‘不，我这就送你返回人间。你可以再活四十年二个月零八天。’
刚一痊愈，这女子就决定待在医院里整容、吸脂、隆胸、收腹等。出院前，她还把美发师请到医院给她染发。她心想，以后日子还长着呢，该尽情享受人生。
做完这些手术后，她便出院，可在过马路时被一辆救护车当场撞死。到了上帝面前，女子问道：‘你不是说我还能活四十年吗，究竟怎么回事？’

A　middle—aged　woman　had　a　heart　attack　and　was　taken　to　the　hospital．　While　on　the　operating　table,she　had　a　near　death　experience．Seeing　God,she　asked　him　if　this　was　“it＂．God　said,　“No,　I　am　sending　you　back．You　have　another　40　years,2　months　and　8　days　to　live．＂
Upon　recovery,the　woman　decided　to　stay　in　the　hospital　and　have　a　face　lift,liposuction,breast　augmentˉation,a　tummy　tuck,etc．She　even　had　her　hairdresser　come　to　the　hospital　to　change　her　hair　color　before　she　was　released　from　the　hospital．She　figured　that,since　she　had　such　a　long　life　ahead　of　her,she　had　better　make　the　most　of　it．
She　left　the　hospital　after　all　the　operations,and　while　crossing　the　street　she　was　hit　by　an　ambulance　and　was　immediately　killed．Arriving　in　front　of　God,the　woman　demanded,“I　thought　you　said　I　had　another　forty　years　left　to　live．What　happened?＂　
God　replied,“I　didn't　recognize　you．＂
